This page is not about supporting Debian as a whole but about supporting (some of) the individuals who are making Debian what it is.
The inclusion in the directory should not be taken as an endorsement of the amount or quality of the work done for Debian. You are supposed to make up your own judgment when deciding who you want to support (but the links can help you learn more about what each contributor is doing).
